Spending the night at Holiday Inn: A Birthday treat

A day before my birthday, Far-ouT and yours truly spent some quiet moments together, and celebrated the eve of my birthday at Holiday Inn.

Prior to that , he took me to Dinner at Dome.

This is what my Far-ouT ordered. Fries, Salad and steak.

Mine is this. Although, rice was not included on the plates, we ordered it separately.

We were already heading to Citimax, when I asked Far-ouT if he made a reservation and he said, no need as there are plenty of rooms. Wrong! there weren't plenty enough. We checked several options but most of them are fully booked.

Good thing, I was following Holiday Inn on Twitter and get familiar with their services. It was a long shot but good thing they still have availability around 11:30 PM! Yes, we almost didn't made it to my birthday eve and was already concerned that we'll be spending the midnight on the road.

The reservation officer was very accommodating and within few minutes, we are already in our room.

The room was cozy and well maintained. I especially love their bathroom. We do not have the usual free soap, toothpaste, toothbrush and requested the same from them and within minutes, it was sent to our room. Our overnight spent at Holiday Inn was comfortable as if we are only sleeping in our own bed in our flat.

What I always love about spending the night in hotels, aside from the nice bed to sleep on, are the free breakfast and Holiday Inn made the morning of my birthday a treat!

I love this day. Thank you Holiday Inn. My 32nd Birthday was indeed a celebration. You deserve a Clap! Clap!

Dubai Garden in SZR

Hey guys! Have you ever visited Dubai Garden in Sheikh Zayed Road? Most of us may not even heard about it. Especially in a place surrounded by deserts and sands. We may even think that the only plant that can survive in the Middle East are cactus. But no, Dubai is nothing but. Every season you will see different kinds and colors of flowers and plants. Although these are planted, they made sure every road has its colorful environment. Their Government is really taking care of their emirates.

Honestly, gardening never interest me. But having a nice medium size balcony, I think I may consider putting some flora to it. During one fine friday afternoon, yours truly and my family visited Dubai Garden location along SZR. It was an fun filled day, something that you might also find interesting.

This is the view of the garden. The place offers a lot of flowers and plants that you can plant on your own garden.

I took the photo from atop where the playground is located.

This is where you can leave your children while you are doing your shopping. But of course, never leave them unattended.

The garden was well-organized for easier plant shopping.

They even beautify the place with fountain and displays

If you are already tired and having a hard time choosing which plants to take home, they offer these resting areas outside.

But they also have a coffee shop inside where you can take time out and think. Dubai garden have other products like garden soil, seeds, pots and garden tools.

We now have few flowers in our little garden. Hopefully, I would be interested in taking care of them, but for now, my mame is doing the gardening. We plan to take care of some herbs later on. I would be giving you a separate post for different plants so you may have an idea on what to buy if you are also interested to take a plant home.

Different countries from all over the world

Have you ever got the chance to tour the world? Those people who has money to spare and travel from country to country are to envy for. Hahaha! I would love to do the same but was not lucky enough to see beautiful places aside from my home country, Singapore, where we had our honeymoon and my current residence in Dubai. ~~Do I have to mention, Kish Iran and Khassab Oman? Where I had to exit during my change of visa days?~~

I am not losing hope - someday I would travel the places that I would love to visit. But for now, Global Village will do. Located in Dubailand, Emirates Road.

This is where people of different nationality meet and gather together to enjoy the flavor of shopping, cultural entertainment and shows.

Global Village are collection of pavilions representing the different countries from all over the world like Kingdom of Saudi Arabia where they get to showcase their culture and products to tourists

Aside from enjoying the sights and scenes of the different countries, Global Village also have rides for the families to enjoy for a minimal amount.

Like this Ferris wheel which was so high that I didn't even dare think of riding it.

It is recommended to visit Global Village during winter to enjoy the cold air of the night and the lights and sounds of the place

When you visit Dubai, this is one of the places you should come and see

Something to look forward to for 2012

Happy New Year 2012, Everyone. That's the only sentence I could think of to start with this post. I really don't have much topic left and since this is the 1st day of 2012. I will keep it short and simple.

Few days before the year 2011 ends, I kept thinking of any New Year's resolution to start my year. But beside totally stop my little vices, ~~No, I won't reveal it here~~, I couldn't think of any. I just thought that I would rather just let it be and if fate permits - then so be it. Maybe buy at least 1 item per month for me, like office attire or a nice shoes. Am I being to selfish? Anyway, as I said, if fate permits. Hahaha!

What I want to be more conscious about is seriously start saving. There might be again another major turn of event - as we plan to have another child this year. But this is remain to be seen as Bella will also start her schooling soon. Ohhh! I am getting overwhelmed now. I will just take it one at a time.

My wish? A new job offer or salary increase - what a good day to start the year, if one of these may come true.

One more thing - This may be a long shot but my dream is really for my blog to be recognize and be famous.Also, many more twitter followers to come.

Remember my post on Sugar Daddy? I went one afternoon to buy another box of cupcakes and guess what? Name changed.

What do you think of their new chosen name? Better than the previous one, right?

It wasn't really explained why they have to another name, maybe sugar daddy has a double meaning. Hahaha! Anyway, whatever the name would be, it doesn't really matter as there was no change on the taste of their cupcakes. It is still the same delicious flavors. Guess, some things remain unchange.

Its five more days to go and we can say goodbye to 2011 and say hello to 2012, something to look forward to. I don't really have that much memory to cherish. Except of course, my Bella being the highlight of my life for this year. She was with us since May 2011 and every day is so much fun with her. Although, its also a test of patience as she is on her terrific Two's! Hopefully by next year - she'll mellow a bit. Hahaha.

Remember my post a few days back regarding the accessories I paired with my flower printed shoes? Then here it is, accessories from TopShop.

The necklace has 2 colors - the longer one is neon green and the other is fuschia pink. Unfortunately, you cannot separate one from the other though.

If you look a little closer, there is a violet, purple and sky blue stones, a heart and feather-like pendant as well. Something that you can pair with the same colors as your clothes and shoes.

Trivia: If its near blue, its violet. If its near red, its purple.

The shorter necklace has a real feather, a leaf and cute hair-like strands.

Its best to minimize on accessories if you want to make something the focal point on your over all. Excuse me, I am not an expert when it comes to this stuff. I surely failed big time when it comes to fashion. But dressing up once in a while will be safe for me. I just love looking for nice accessories from shops. This one I got for Dhs 10.00 from TopShop City Centre Deira as they are renovating their boutique.

Style&co. shoes

I was never this bold when it come to shoes. I'd rather keep it simple and comfy. But admit it or not, when wearing heels, you feel sexy and you really make an effort to walk with grace. Just like what I did today, I thought a hundredths time if I will wear it or just keep myself in my safe zone before leaving the house. I finally decided that I will wear my shoes. I was still self-conscious while wearing it but then again, hearing my colleagues nice comments really made me more confident in wearing it. I'd like to introduce to you may current love! love! love! Style&co. shoes

I know right?! Its flower printed shoes. Something that is difficult to pair with. What I did was minimize my over all - just a white blouse, a black jacket, jeans and put a little accessories with the same colors to match it (I will post a new entry with this cute thingie) and make the shoes the eye-catching on me. ~~Imagine people looking at my shoes instead of looking at my face.~~ The best thing about it is, I got a good deal out of it from brands for less. Yey!

Tim Hortons cafe & bakeshop

I never knew there were such a coffee shops as Tim Hortons. Forgive me for being ignorant. The only famous for me is Starbucks - Admit it, the shop is more like a mushroom that keep on popping up everywhere you go. So when I first heard of Timmy's (as what my colleague calls it), it stirs excitement to my bone.

I think my colleague felt my frustration as its been weeks that I've been dying to try their coffee and donuts - I've actually been picturing myself just sitting and sipping the coffee from a very cold morning.

As a very thoughful person that she is, she ended my whining and invited me to Tim Hortons - as a treat! Weee! So excited!

She said that their bagel is a must try.

Indeed. Above is cheddar bagel with cream cheese (Dhs 13). You may order this as plain as well. I am not a fan of this kind of bread product but tasting it with cream cheese was a delight.

Aside from it, we also tried the timbits (Dhs 9/box), its like the munchkins of Dunkin Donuts.

And of course, the coffee!

Iced Capp Supremo (Dhs 21). This is what I love! love! love! of course, the whipped cream was an added treat.

I'm getting really frustrated with the turn out of my photos. Especially when its dark inside a restaurant, I couldn't get a decent pictures. This particular blog entry is one of the many where I needed to really take several trial before getting a nice shot.

Let's start of with none other than our drinks, Mom's Shanghai Sunrise (Dhs 19). A fusion of mango, pineapple and orange juices with a hint of sweet strawberry and a splash of ginger ale is a sweet and a refreshing to go along with any dish.

Mine is Asian Pear Mojito (Dhs 19) A Cuban tradition with an Asian twist. Always, Mojito. My Mojito.

Far-ouT ordered us a bottle of water. It looks like a sparkling one but good things its not. Haha! Because that may be expensive.

Chang's Chicken Lettuce Wraps (Dhs 36). It is Chang's famous appetizer, they said its always copied but never equaled. That's for sure, its a combination of chicken and other traditional ingredients prepared in the wok. Served with fresh iceberg lettuce cups

Dumplings (Vegetarian Dhs 22, Chicken Dhs 25, Shrimp Dhs 30). Handcrafted Wontons filled with chicken, shrimp, or vegetables steamed or pan fried accompanied with sauce

Mongolian Lambs (Dhs 49). Its their traditional recipe from Mongolian region of China. Its a thin slices of lambs with onion strips.

Sweet and Sour chicken (Dhs 45) Diced chicken breast with pineapple, green bell pepper and yellow onions with sweet and sour sauce.

You can never go wrong with Chinese foods.

Red Lobster at Dubai Mall

I'm a seafood lover. Good thing I am not allergic to any, especially shrimp. One of the best dine in experiences for me always include Crustaceans.

Our recent food trip was in Dubai Mall and the latest craze, Reb Lobster, the seafood restaurant that has been America’s best for 40 years is now in the Middle East.

"Red Lobster is famous for its delicious and daily fresh seafood menu that is suited to every taste. Whether you like lobsters, shrimps, fresh fish, your best choice would be Red Lobster. To start of, Mom and yours truly are into experimenting with our taste buds and getting new drink in every place that we dine in.

This is Berry Mango Daiquiri (Dhs 18). It's a frozen combination of Caribbean flavor syrup and tropical mangoes swirled and topped with sweet blended strawberries

Now I want to refrain what i said earlier, its not "Mom and yours truly," its only "mom" I guess. Because yours truly order the same drink over and over again.

My fave, Mojito (Dhs 16), prepared with a Caribbean flavor, mixed with margarita twist, and garnished with crushed crispy mint leave. Simply to die for.

let's get on with our foodies, below is Lobster Nachos (28), Crispy tortilla topped with langostino lobster meat, cremy Cheddar and Montery Jack cheese, fresh pico de gallo, Jalapeno peppers, and sour cream.

I don't know why we ordered 2 starters but anyway, I guess it is still better hitting 2 birds with one stone ~~Haha, what am I saying?~~

Above is Red Lobster Garden Salad, a crispy mix of iceberg romaine lettuce, red cabbage and carrots, served with your choice of dressing. There is Italian, French, Ranch Thousand or Blue cheese. We chose the latter, I want to taste the blue cheese of course.

Here we go, Wood -Grilled lobster. The restaurant has a aquarium full of lobsters. Mom and yours truly shared this big of a seafood.

My dear Bella will show you how big our lobster was.

Which we paired with none other than rice.

While Far-ouT ordered a separate menu from himself, Wood-Grilled Lobster, shrimp and scallops (Dhs 85) its a split Maine Lobster tail and skewered jumbo shrimp and sea scallops with a buttery garlic finish, over wild rice pilaf.

Just like in Aprons and Hammer, they also have aprons, but this ones are disposable. Aint it cute?

A French Wedding to Remember

I just want to share with you a quick post. Recently Far-ouT was invited to a wedding of his colleague. They were a lovely French couple. The reception was held in their residence in Jumeirah triangle which was a nice garden setting. The evening was cold and quiet. It was a relaxed mood, and everybody was just so nice.

It was my first time to attend a wedding reception in Dubai and I must say, I loved it. It wasn't like the ones I attended in the Philippines where couple is expected to have a grand wedding with costly buffet meals for guests, expensive gowns, luxurious bridal car and reception venue, whilst guests were requested to buy gifts - monetary gifts preferred. I was one of guilty bride who wished for a lavish wedding. Who wouldn't? Its every woman's dream. What I witnessed was a breath of fresh air, although there would still be another big celebration in their home country, the one they prepared in Dubai was still well-designed. It was a laid-back atmosphere, some of the guests, even the bride herself, were on foot, enjoying the feel of the green grass. There were only few seats, sofas, table with soft music filling the air

The best thing on the event were the food. There were wines and liquors, mostly Japanese foods - sushi, sashimi, makis. And something that caught my attention, bread and cheese.

These and more placed in several huge white pots. Nothing like the ones I remember in my home country - no rice, no different viands and over flowing list of desserts lined up in a long table.

This wedding was a simple but elegant one. No hassle, just total fun and relaxed evening.

Its Showtime in Dubai

Yes, you read it right. Showtime was in Dubai yesterday, 2nd of December, and we were one of the hundreds of people who went and watched the show. It was a one of the few Filipino shows that I really wanted to see, live. A refreshing night to remember - away from all the everyday hassle and bustle of Dubai A-Life.

It was timing that Dubai is also celebrating Islamic New Year and its 40th Anniversary and declared Thursday and Saturday as holidays.

We bought tickets for the VIP seats for AED 120. Not bad to see the hosts a little closer. Only downside was, Dubai Airport Expo was a hot venue. Nevertheless, it was a fun evening watching Showtime. Sorry, no decent photos to share this time. It was dark and my mobile camera wasn't fit for the ocassion.

Hosts Vhong Navarro and Anne Curtis introduced one of the contestants during the program. Back were Hurados, Danny Buenafe, Karylle and Jon Avila

One of my scores. I was scared to be seen by the hosts, I might be asked to do a "sample". That would kill the h*ll out of me, I swear!

It was also my first time to wear my boots I bought last year from Naturalizer. I was actually having second thoughts as I might not be able to enjoy the night with sore feet but was surprised how comfortable it was. Thank goodness.

I came across 1 tweet from The Bag Hag that I really like and wanted to share with you all before I end my blog for the day. "Dress well and look good. Because you love yourself. Indeed.

A Basic Pampering Need

Before I availed my cobone deal for just Dhs 199 (value of Dhs 700), I want to share with you my first ever use of group buying via online, which was a little risky for credit card users but so far, so good for me. I used it for a not so expensive deal, just so not to cry over spilled milk if ever I experience a not-so-good incident for a first time user like me.

Anyway, I bought a 75 minute Dermalogical Facial Treatment for Dhs 119 instead of Dhs 275 at Catwalk Ladies Salon from groupon.

The facial was really a blast! It was relaxing and definitely a good deal. The place was clean and well lit. The receiving area was inviting and the person I speak with on the phone to arrange for my appointment was very accommodating something missing from the the call I gave to Metropolitan Hotel

This is where the facial was done. The person was very nice and well experienced, she even gave me tips on how to care for my skin and hair.

Did you know that we should pay particular care on the linings of our hair on the forehead? Otherwise, pimples will start to envade your precious forehead, just like mine. So she recommended that I cleanse my hair with shampoo, cleaning the said part and not put on too much conditioner on it as it is also the caused of pimple breakouts.

I highly recommend their Dermatological Facial which is a basic pampering need, I am a satisfied customer of this service. Its suitable for all skin type that tends to cleanse, exfoliate, tighten, tone and refresh your skin.

Moroccan Bath. Let's!

I'm curious for the longest time how Moroccan bath works, I was offered a few times to try the service but not until I got a good deal from cobone that I was able to experience it. The package that I had comes with Moroccan bath, full body massage, full body scrub, dead sea facial and hot oil treatment. It was a steal, but not until I was in to experience the offer.

Moroccan Bath "It's an intense cleansing and exfoliating massage, which takes one-and- -half-hours to complete, The deep cleansing begins using traditional Moroccan Black cleansing soap, which quickly penetrates the skin breaking up any dead skin cells that accumulate on our bodies over time. A scalp mask is also applied and then the room fills up with steam and relaxed for about twenty minutes to let my skin soften for the exfoliating."

It was an amazing experience to try it for the first time, I could really feel the effect on my skin. I thought that "once a week exfoliating would be enough to remove the dirt and dead skin but when I saw the deep seated dirt visible on my skin, I was like "ewww!" Were these really come out from my skin? But it wasn't comfortable at all. I was conscious the whole time while the procedure was being done.

The Filipina asked me which I preferred first, the Body Massage or the Moroccan bath, I chose the latter. First, because, I have not taken my bath yet ~~I know, right?~~, and second I do not want to have the bath after the massage which based from previous masseuse, it is not advisable taking a bath after a massage as it will not be good for your body and as per the sayings of our senior citizens aka "matatanda," the "lamig" will go inside our body. I was then led to my own room where I kept my belongings and was requested to remove all my clothes, wear a disposable shorts and was led to the bathroom, which was dark and hot. I was asked to lay down on the bed like area, naked. The lady then started to shower me, then rub me the nice smelling soap, "the black cleansing soap" probably. Then she started the full body scrub. She also did the hot oil treatment.

After the procedure, I feel refresh and my skin was soft and smooth. I was led back to my room for the massage and the dead-sea facial treatment. I know I made the right choice to have the Moroccan bath first because the lady uses lotion instead of massage oil. I felt relax while the massage was on going. The facial was a disappointment for me, as it was only a facial mask and not exactly what I was expecting, it was even a little itchy on my face. I was irritated because the lady didn't remove well the mask she put on my face and didn't even bother to tell me that I had white marks on the face not until one of her colleagues told me so when I was already outside the room! ~~Imagine the embarrassment~~.

The end of my HP laptop

I'm literally technology free for almost a month ~~with the exception of my Blackberry where I could still access my Twitter and Facebook~~. It was a frustration not to be able to post entries on my blog. Our laptop for 3 years gave up on us. Not exactly the ideal time as we just moved in on our new flat. Expenses just keep on pouring in. Just as what the saying goes, when it rains, it pours.

We still tried to save it though, temporarily, asking opinions from several friends who knows something about computers. Judging from all the information we gather, and we sum it all up, we always end up to one conclusion, give it a rest.

Its motherboard is still working. The keyboard works as well, but the screen just went blank. It may have something to do with the monitor. The monitor will just go blank after several years of use, we had it quoted for repair but the cost would be almost half of a brand new one with a lifespan of only a year more so we decided to just buy a new one. No, not HP anymore.

This is a tribute to our HP laptop, you served us well for 3 years but not long enough for us to be satisfied with your service. For the benefit of future users, please rectify the problems with your laptops. But still Thank you.

We were advised that brands like Sony Vaio and Asus are goods buys, we bought the latter.

When I was still preparing for Bella's second birthday party at McDonald's , I also chance upon Sugar Daddy's bakery, but wasn't able to check them out then and chosen Sugarbox instead. I have no regrets with my cake supplier as they were able to deliver up to my expectations and quite happy with their cake.

When we dine in at Jumeirah, I had the chance to visit their store and try few of their mini cupcakes.

The place was really impressive. From the chosen furnitures, colors and overall design, you would really be entice to buy their products.

As what the saying goes, Star makes me a poet. Moon makes me a singer. Coffee makes me a dreamer.

How do you defined a coffee lover? Does drinking coffee several times a day makes you a coffee addict? I only drink coffee every morning and have two all time favorite coffee drink, brewed coffee with milk and Starbucks mocha Frappuccino. Does that make me a coffee fanatic?

Way back in the Philippines, my former boss, also my all time favorite boss and my ninang on my wedding from Sari-Sari Group of Companies is also a coffee lover. BIG TIME! She is a black coffee drinker with no sugar and milk. I remember her everyday liquid intake is always coffee. When we left the company we still hang out together and update each other over a cup of coffee from Starbucks, always in Cubao branch. Still miss her and every chance I have to meet her, she will always find time to meet me. Always, always a nice conversation.

She told me on one of our conversations that she also love drinking brewed coffee from Dunkin Donuts because they always use fresh grind coffee bean.

Here in Dubai, below our flat is Dunkin Donuts and I used buy coffee there every weekend until I realized that I am spending too much money on it and it would be much better if I buy my own coffee maker. This is my first coffee beans courtesy of Far-ouT. Imagine that I have coffee beans already but no coffee maker yet. I was obliged to buy one.

And so I did. Definitely another dirhams to save. Now I only buy coffee beans from them and have them grind.

Recently though, we chance upon different coffee beans from Carrefour and tried several already.

This is Brazilian Santos -Arabic roast (Dhs 45/kilo). Brazil Santos is usually used as a grading term for Brazilian coffee rather than a variety of Arabica. The name refers to the port in Brazil where coffee passed through, and was regarded as higher quality than "Brazilian coffee". Brazilian Santos is usually of the Bourbon variety - (wikipedia)

I didn't like it that much, there is some herb after taste (I am not sure if it is cardamom) but definitely not my type of coffee. But we bought like half a kilo and instead of disposing it, I still drank it every day until it was finished. Would you believe that I kindda love its taste eventually? But not buying the same again.

I have leveled up to Dhs 55 per kilo. This is Roasted Medium Mexico. They have a balanced acidity, medium body, and full flavor that offers a sweet finish. They truly have everything to offer in a delicious Mexican coffee. Im so excited with my current coffee, I am so loving it. Just the taste I wanted. I like my coffee strong and bitter even with milk already in it.

Ahh, I didn't realized, I bought the same coffee beans, its still my current love anyway.

Trivia: My mom watched an episode of "I forgot the name of the TV show" were they featured Aga Muhlach and all the different kinds of coffee beans that he has. Now I wanted to taste all the coffee beans of the world.

My tiny little notebook

I just realized today that it's actually nice to have some time off from work because I am missing it. Not much but still missing it, just a little. A very, very, little miss. Tiny, minute, detail of miss in every sense of the word. Not the miss part but the little. I have no idea if I am making any sense now. Anyway, when you are not working, your mind wanders a lot. Mine does. All the time actually. But I also have this "what was I thinking just a while ago?" and "I was planning to do something but I forgot already" Oh yeah. I was blaming the anesthesia when I gave birth to Bella. Yes, I was on twilight sleep. I actually did not discuss with my doctor on how I will gave birth. I surely don't want the pain of Lamaze. Despite my mom's encouragement, I would still prefer the painless way. No offense to those who want to give natural childbirth. I know myself well enough that I might not want to get pregnant again If I experience something painful. I have a high tolerance for it but I still don't want it, if I could help it, and yes, even if I will be restrained and strapped to gurneys and my legs will be clamped in stirrups for hours. Period. End of story.

Going forward, several days ago, I bought myself a tiny notebook. Just to take note of the things I wanted to buy or do in the next few days to come. I also am writing down some of my thoughts on future plans. Its working as I browse through it just in case, I run into things that I needed to buy.

Last Wednesday, 28 September, after i bought my tiny, little notebook, I started listing the things I plan to buy for the month of October and some things that I wanted to do in the near future and its actually working. I think that it is also saving me time and money. Time, because, I do not need to roam around the mall thinking what am I suppose to buy, I dont need to think a lot trying to remember the things that I needed to do and Money, as I will not spend on things I don't really need.

Things to buy in the month of October

~~Slippers~~ - Just bought today, I was planning to buy these several weeks ago but kept on forgetting and now with the help of my tiny little book, I succeed.

~~White dress for Bella~~ - We went to Al Ghusais last Monday for Mom's appointment on her Emirates ID, then went to Festival Mall for our breakfast in IKEA, good thing, I also planned on buying Bella's white dress in Gingersnap, Bella has her Ninang's birthday party this weekend with white theme. Save us time and energy. I am so loving my tiny little book

~~Swimsuit for Bella~~ - Also included in our list for today. We plan our beach again over the weekend
and I do not want Bella wearing her shirt and underwear again.

~~Brilliant Baby DVDs~~ - Included in our list last Monday. Far-ouT bought several DVDs from Hyperpanda.

~~Jar at IKEA~~ - Yes, a jar. Since I couldn't find a nice piggy bank in Dubai. I just thought of using a nice jar for Bella's savings. I just thought about it several days ago and good thing I wrote it and so did not forget! I love her Jar.

~~Office attire~~ - Far-ouT and yours truly have decided to buy ourselves, one item a month including Mame and Bella. So this is what I bought for the month of October. Yes, we are not big spenders and we are still recuperating from a big amount of money that we had to let go for something important.

~~Sim card for Mame~~ - My mom was here since May and we just kept on forgetting to buy her a sim card. And because of the incident happened were Bella accidentally locked herself inside the bathroom, I am not taking any more chances. Good thing, we were on vacation and we were at the flat when this happened.

My future personal plans:

Saving for LASIK eye surgery cost for 2013. I dont want the contact lenses not glasses anymore.

Start saving for life insurance policy on January 2012.

Start my own bank account savings on January 2012.

Family life immediate goal:

Celebrate our 18th of every month.

Potty training for Bella

Allot 30 minutes every night to teach Bella the alphabet, number and colors

On work related issue, I only have until Saturday and vacation is finished. SO SAD! Hopefully, I believe and I am sure, I will be staying late nights again in our office to catch up on things, I want to be more strict with my timings, maybe staying only up to 7:00 PM for 1 week then once everything is settled and back to normal, I will only stay until 6:00 PM, latest will be at 6:30. My goal is to go home on time actually, 5:30 PM, who am I kidding? Not for now, but I know I will get there someday.

Random Thoughts: A-Time Out from Work

Got a new signature. Something more like my handwriting, but still not quite. I am more of "all caps" handwriter. Anyway, below will do. I have been blogging about foods and my new topic Moving and relocation this past few days. Never really had time for my thoughts. Its hard to find time to put my thoughts into words as eventhough I am on local vacation leave for 2 weeks, I am busy with my tasks. I am actually on my project: Bella potty training.

Every morning for 7 days now, I ask Bella to come with me in the toilet and let her sit in the toilet bowl. She actually will sit for about 1 minute and then she'll tell me "la pa, la pa, Nanay" (Wala pa, Wala pa, Nanay). She is diaper free for the whole day and I asks her several time should she wants to pee and she will repeat the same words to me, "la pa, la pa, Nanay" (Wala pa, Wala pa, Nanay).

When I sense that there's an urge for her to pee, I will immediately carry her to the toilet and let her sit on the toilet bowl. But again after sometime she will tell me "la pa, la pa, Nanay" (Wala pa, Wala pa, Nanay). She is holding it until she couldn't control it anymore and end up peeing on the floor.

Do you think is not ready yet? Should I just give up and just try it again some other time?

On a different note, I am also happy that she's learning a lot of words already. There are even words that surprised us. A former colleague of mine also suggested us to buy Bella Brilliant Baby DVDs which we did, adding Brainy Baby as well. She's not entirely into it yet as she will only watch it for several minutes and headed to her next antics but its a help indeed. Bella is also loving Barbie movies which she prefers over her new DVDs.

Also, Bella made her first visit to the dentist. We were not very successful with this. As she refused to sit on the dentist's chair. My bad! I was actually teaching her how to open her mouth, I forgot to tell her to sit first on the chair. Good thing the dentist was encouraging us to take it easy and just introduce the place. We will have another visit to the doctor and will tell you more about it.

Those were my activities in the past fews days. I still have a few more to spend with my sassy Bella. I have a few plan of my own in the near future like making my savings a full blast and getting my own savings account. That only means one think, postponing my travel plans and spendings.

South Africa's Spur Steak Ranches

We have tried lots of steak from different restaurant already, there's Steak House at Royal Ascott Hotel, Tony Roma's, among others, the best so far was the wagyu beef from Tribe. To add another list from places I have been to, I will tell you about our latest food trip. South Africa's Spur Steak Ranches.

Did you know about the legend of the giant burger? No? So Am I. So, let's hear it

"On the 13th day of October 1985, ~~I was like five year old~~, the young chief from the land of the flat mountain gathered together his tribe, more that three hundred men and women, and they built a fire that could be seen in villages far away.

Eighteen tons of woods burnt for sixteen hours until the coals were just perfect to grill the biggest hamburger the worls has ever seen

This giant burger, containing 2277.66 kgs of the juicest beef, sizzled on the great fire, and everyone ate and danced into the night. News of the giant hamburger reached the writers of a great book called the Guinness Book of Records, who recorded this historic event for posperity.

The people brought many gifts to the young Chief, who the gave these gifts to those in need so that they too could share the joy that was in his heart."

Very nice story. So I was thinking that Spur was the name of the young chief, don't you think? Everything about the place was very Native American.

Here goes the foodies, I wasn't very impressed with their Iced Tea (Dhs 8). One of the many mistake of restaurants and fast foods is the right blend of the drink.

The side rice (Dhs 10) was fine but a little bland.

I enjoyed the Caesar Salad (Dhs 32). Just the norm lettuce, tomatoes with cruttons and cheese.

These are the 1/2 Ribs (Dhs 86), a litlle expensive for 3 pieces but definitely, tender and tasty. The mashed potatoes was bland and hard.

We also ordered Bella her fries and chicken fingers (Dhs 16)

And the last and definitely the least, their Buffalo Wings (Dhs 38) which wasn't buffalo at all. Size were the normal chicken wings.

I wasn't very impressed with the food, except for the Ribs, nothing more special.

Aprons and Hammers for Dinner

Isn't it interesting to eat Aprons and Hammers for Dinner? Don't take it literally, its just the name of the seafood restaurant we went to and ate dinner. The place is one of far-ouT's many clients. They are located inside Dubai International Marina Club, Mina Seyahi Beach Resort. Dubai's one and only Crab Shack. Most of the servers were Filipino, which is always a good thing.

The table welcome us with the hammers and crab crackers. Though we weren't able to use them, it was such a delight just to look at them.

What's even more interesting is the use of Aprons instead of the usual table napkins. So that's basically where they got their name, ~~I think~~.

For starters, their complimentary breads were fresh from the oven

Often its the first source of sustenance for a starving diners like us, but did you know that its a common mistake that bread were eaten before the first course arrives at the table? Geez, I didn't know that.

Right after we have ransacked every last piece of it, our server brought our drinks.

My mom ordered the Strawberry Daiquiri (virgin) glass is Dhs 15. This is quite delicious. My mame loved it. It has a similarity with 7-11's Slurpee.

Far-out has chosen Margarita also at Dhs 15. Its like the real Margarita but its non alcoholic. It was nice, but a little sour though.

Yours truly ordered my usual, mint lemonade. Dhs 12. Thirst quencher, indeed

We had our Calamari (Dhs 35) which is crunchie on the outside and tender on the inside.

This is Blue Crab Salad (Dhs 35), I love the crab meats on it, tossed with mixed lettuce, cherry tomatoes, sweet white onion, and their homemade blue sauce.

We were so full when the above was almost done but not quite though as we were waiting for our main course. The Aprons and Hammers Paella (Dhs 160). Spicy paella rice made with squid, mussels, shrimps and fish topped with lemon.

Its also an A-first as the ambiance was inside this dhow.

Your next step to moving: Survey

I have introduced to you the first step on your moving requirements and how to choose the right company for bringing your personal effects and household goods, so what's next? Let's take you on to the next level. The survey schedule. When a moving company takes your call, they would ask a few questions so be sure you have all the details that you would need to save you time and the one who is getting your details. Be sure to give your correct address and contact details so surveyor won't have a hard time looking for your place. A map or landmarks would be helpful.

Have you already scheduled at least 3 companies to visit your place and do an estimation? How did you do it? Schedule them all at the same time to save you your precious time and energy? Not a good idea. The best thing to do is schedule them on different time slots. Each consultant would wish to have a few minutes of your time to discuss their services and of course, offer you their best services. They would bring to you a packets as a guide on your upcoming relocation and discuss further. Be sure to read them all. It would be a great help to check all details, especially Customs Information, prohibited items and if your presence would be required during inspection.

Survey normally would take between 30 - 1 hour depending on the size of your house. Keep in mind of several details that they would normally check, are you a returning citizen? If not, is your visa ready? Are you travelling with your family and so on.

Your consultant will also request you to show them around. They would inspect every contents of your cupboards, drawers, cabinet, all your rooms and storage area. Show them all the items that you plan to bring. Also, be sure to advise your consultant if you are still planning to buy more stuff to add on to you volume of items. It would not be a good idea to hide anything from the surveyor, otherwise, it would give you more hassle if they underestimate your belongings. At the end of the day, you may still end up paying more.

Do you already know your destination address? Any access issue? Are you planning to take your pet? car? When is your flight to your destination? Discuss all details with your surveyor. Take note of all the details that you would need to know prior to their visits so you won't need to keep calling the moving company and ask questions. Remember that you are not the only person moving and your consultant has already alloted a time for you, use it wisely. He or she may not always be available to take your call on another day as they also have other clients to attend to. Be considerate. Should it really be important details, you may always call the office and check. They would be happy to assist you.

BER month first post: A-First Move

Today marks the 1st day of Ber months. That means Christmas is just around the corner, people will start buying gifts until all on list has a box for gift giving on Christmas eve. Well, not all people do the Christmas shopping this early, most of us, ~~count me in~~ does the rush and last minute buying of things for Christmas.

Honestly, one of my i-hate-attitude of mine is not being as thoughtful as I wanted to be. Hmm, is that how you call people who fail to buy your friends and family gifts on their special day? Or generous is it? Whatever you may want to call it, I am determined to change that somehow - since I want Bella to look forward and get excited on any event, unlike me, who were never excited on any holidays and special occasion - even my birthday. How do you think I can break my tradition? For a start, I already requested Far-ouT for a Christmas tree, not this early though, maybe around the last week of November would be more ideal. We never really had a Christmas tree back home when I was growing up so a big tree with gifts would be something enticing for Bella to look forward for Christmas. Also, since we won't be able to come home for the Christmas holidays then we'll just make the most out of it here in Dubai.

First things first, I don't want to get too excited now for that. There is still Trick or Treat which is one of the occasion that I also missed growing up. I don't know yet how we can celebrate it but I will find an upcoming event and hopefully Bella can participate in one of them.

On a different note, today is also mark the start of my entry for new topic that I'd like to introduce to you. It has something to do with what I do. I hope this would be an interesting topic as this is what I do for a living. Something work related. I find my job interesting. Demanding and yet exciting. Stressful sometimes and wish you would be in a different environment most of the time.

Some are not familiar with what I do. When someone ask me, what my work is. I always tell them, I'm working for a moving company and I always got the follow-up question, a moving what? In Filipino translation, we call it, lipat bahay. Like, if you will be transferring from one place to another, we are the ones doing that. For the lower to middle class family in the Philippines, we normally hire a small time company with open truck or a jeepney to transport our belongings. Because hiring a professional company who will pack all your items and take extra care not to damage anything is somewhat pricey. Although, some people, who are concern about their expensive items, hire us to do the moving for them. But if you will be moving from one country to another then you would definitely need a reputable company to do it for you.

Do you happen to know how you can send your personal effects and household goods to a different country? For example, you will be repatriating back to USA? United Kingdom perhaps? What about France? Or your company will transfer you to Asia? Every country has its own different rule and customs procedure. Some countries are strict on importation of containers, some are not. Depending on the country that you want to send your goods (PE and HHG), you should have enough knowledge prior to sending your items. What would be the steps in getting your PE and HHG to its destination?

First, if you are concern about your expensive items to reach its destination without a scratch, it is recommended to invest in a reputable moving and relocation company. You may want to call and schedule at least 3 companies to visit you and assess the volume of your goods. Keep in mind that a good company and their representative should be able to provide you with details on how you can move your items, guide you on your country of destination, warn you of prohibited items that you cannot include in the shipment, recommend to you items that needs special crating and offer comprehensive insurance to protect you and your items against damages and in case of total loss of your shipment at sea which is an isolated case but nevertheless a good decision to make.

The tricky part comes next, choosing the right company to trust in moving your goods. You may be tempted to choose the cheapest right away but it would be better to assess and go through thoroughly on the proposal submitted to you.

What are the inclusions and exclusions of the quote
Is it door to door service
Does it already include the Destination Terminal Handling Charge (DTHC)

Normally, a company will offer you their quote with the packing charges, freight charges and destination charges in a lump sum amount inclusive of DTHC. However, please do note that DTHC are most of the time, indicative as some of it are only known upon the arrival of your shipment at destination. There would always be extra charges at destination. You may always check with the moving company what are the charges for but do understand that there are payments that are out of their control so no need to fight with your life for it but be vigilant on the charges that you will pay and check again the quote you receive, it should be noted on your exclusions especially duties and taxes.

Third, a professional company should have a dedicated person assigned to look after your shipment. He or she does the coordination from arranging the packing dates, boxes you requested in advance, arrange the insurance for you, advise you of the shipping information and update you on the status of your shipment, introduce to you the company and the contact person who will take care of your items at the other end and still remains available for any assistance that you would need. In short, that person will be your main point of contact from beginning to end.

You may also request boxes in advance should you wish to prepacked some of your items. Note not to seal it as yet as the packing crew would need to check the contents of the boxes and include it on the packing list. Packing list is essential documents required for customs clearance. You may want to request from crew a copy which they normally can provide.

On the day of the packing, you are also given a team leader assigned give instruction to his team on which area in your house to pack. You should always keep your personal belongings like jewelries, cash and other confidential documents safe and secure. Make sure your passport is with you. You don't want the crew to pack it and include in the shipment. Otherwise, this will cost you more than what you plan to pay on your relocation.

Remember to check if you already have provided all the documents that the company will need to clear your shipment at the destination. There are paper works that you have get from your origin city before you can safely fly to to your destination so make sure to check with your coordinator. Also, if you have a preferred date of delivery at your residence, make sure to advise your coordinator so he or she can check the vessel schedule for you. Please note though that vessel schedule are tentative and subject change which is beyond the control of your moving company so give an allowance to yourselves.

Last but not the least, don't stressed yourself too much. Remember, everything is a learning experience for you and your first moving may not be the last so be sure to learn from your first.

Coming Soon: A new topic for my blog

Ramadan is almost reaching its end. Our office timings will soon be back to normal. Although, I wasn't really able to enjoy the shortened working hours, I am sure sad that I will be away again for more than 8 hours from Bella. Anyway, what I needed was learn how to manage my time which have improve dramatically this past few months, as I am now learning how to handle my workload, I slip once in a while, staying more hours than what I wanted but still I am proud that I am already learning the ropes of my job. The important thing for me now is that I am working with the best people in my entire career that will not judge me for my failures but support me and help me through my challenges. There are still those who I wish were not there, but they are more manageable than the ones I have worked with before. They are the spices of my life, remember, without them, my life will be a bore. Hahaha!

I am thinking of adding a new topic for my blog and I am already excited to start it. I plan to launch it by September. It has something to do with my job. Something that I hope with be interesting. Anyway, I still have a few more days to plan how I can work it out. I may only be able to post it every Friday and Saturday night when the world is sleeping. I may need to stay a little late so I will be more effective in my writing. My critic has mentioned to me more than a few errors on my grammar and spelling in my blog writing so I make sure to read over and over until I am sure that most of the mistakes were corrected to the best of my ability. If there are still some that I missed, well criticism is most welcome. No, I won't be offended. I overcome my insecurities long time back, thank God, I will even be the first to laugh at my boo boo. Meantime, I still have few left behind entries that I will try to finish before month ends.

Going further, I am thinking of having a journal so I may take notes on my weekly blog post just so not to forget the details on it. how's that for a career?

I hope this new idea of mine will soar high, and hope someday, my blog with find its place in this world.

Assia In Wok: Exotic restaurant

Every restaurant has their own marketing strategy to attract customers, with millions of chains around. You better be good in promoting your business to people. I got curious with the name of this place. So once upon a social gathering with friends, I have tried to wooed them into this place and succeed. It was a first for me but also the last. Though their name is eye-catching, the food that they get to offer, did not really impressed me or should I say, nothing was special?

I must admit that this style is nice and inviting

This is Beef sirloin and teriyaki (Dhs 58.00). Beef sirloin, marinated stir-fried with asparagus, baby corn, chinese cabbage, pok choi, shitake mushroom, and intense Japanese sauce. I didn't enjoy it that much, nothing Juicy about the beef, not tender enough. I wasn't able to enjoy my ordered Jasmin rice (Dhs 10.00) because of this. I was recently had toothache and this added to my frustration.

Below were the other ones that we have ordered.

This is their Yakigyoza. Light weight pastry stuffed with chicken, vegetable, spring onion, and seasoning.

Their Dimsum selection (Dhs 29). I tried them all, but only liked 1 from the four. The rest were so, so.

Sea food fried rice (Dhs 42.) Combination of fried rice, with prawn, and fish, egg, and vegetable, with spring onion toppings.

Sorry for the lack of details, I wasn't in the mood anymore to go futher. Nothing so spectacular. Quite not what I was expecting. but in fairness, the place was nice enough for a few good shots.

No. Not coming back.

Buongiorno Cafe

Just right after I typed the title of this post, I immediately search for the meaning of the word "buongiorno," thank goodness my ever reliable google has enlightened me as I do not want to end the blog and still don't know the meaning of the word. On how to pronouce it? We'll get there someday, for now what's important is that I now know the meaning. Buon giorno means hello or good day in Italian.

I have no idea why they named the restaurant this as most of their menu are Filipino dishes. That's kindda disappointing. Why not name it Kamusta? Magandang araw? Hmm, I think I have a pretty good idea now. Haha! Just kidding. Anyway, I was really impressed the first time tasted their foods, really something to be proud of, if the owners were really Filipinos. I've been to their old location twice already and then suddenly, they just disappear and no where to be found. Far-ouT and yours truly even drive around Karama area just to look for their new location but failed. ~~By the way, thanks for posting at least a location map of your new place.~~

Anyway, I totally forget about them and then suddenly they just appear in front of me! ~~Creepy.~~ ~~Kabute ba tawag dun?~~ I think we should just call it fate. We were about to go to Burjuman Centre to dine at that time when all of a sudden I saw their signage. I overreacted and was like Far! Far! yung Buongiorno! ~~Ekkk, OA alert.~~ And Burjuman was forgotten. I was starving already so we headed straight to the alloted parking space and eat to my heart's content.

Before, I move on to this reunion with their food, I noticed that their current location was way better and bigger.

A lot has change to this place really. They improve on their overall look. But some things never change, the people were the same friendly staff . They have good customer service, without this, which some restaurant failed in this area, will bound to fail. But Buongiorno, kept their good people. I was even suspecting that the two most accommodating people there were the owners. No wonder they succeeded tremendously. Oh, and that Karaoke and satellite channels are still there! For your pleasure and afterwork relaxation

At the back of my mind, I was also hoping that they'd maintained the quality and taste of their food. And I was not disappointed. I totally enjoyed everything.

Lately, I have been looking at vintage colors and seeing a lot of it. Guess its the return of Vintage afterall. From vintage clothing, to vintage furniture, to vintage art, accessories and more, the past is just creeping back into the present.

Far-ouT and yours truly went to this Sale event in Trade Center to just look around. But yours truly just got lucky this time and was able to find this cute vintage colored wallet from Fossil.

If I were to marry again, I'll definitely have a classic vintage wedding. I was actually thinking to use this theme with any of Bella's occasion, her 18th birthday perhaps? But when she reach that certain age that she can already decide for herself, she may want something else so I'll just hold on to my thoughts and hope that we will want that for her debut, or if one day, Far-ouT decided to marry me again on our 25th year anniversary, then I will make sure everything would be classic vintage. I was able to read a few things about this style and would like to share it with you.

See how amazing this style is? Far-ouT, Bella, Mame and yours truly went to the City Centre today and I saw these shoes that I can't get out of my mind. I am having second thoughts though on the high heels as I am not use to wearing one but these style are definitely a beauty, in light brown and yellow color. I like the yellow one better but it would be a choosy on wardrobe.

I will not reveal yet the brand, as I am thinking hard if these will be on my purchase list in next few days to come or I will just let it pass by, ~~which I think I cannot resist the urge.~~ I am already imagining the shoes on with the perfect dress but well, let see. Quoting Samantha's Jones' famous line from Sex and the City. I searched a lot of sites for these bags out of curiosity. Found several but most are faux and the own website are not so helpful at all ~~or I just don't have an idea on how it works.~~ This one and this one as well seems authentic on selling Hermes bags. I made quite a read on these famous bags from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and I posted the history below. Read on:

The Birkin bag is a handmade purse by Hermès and named after actress and singer Jane Birkin. The bag is a symbol of wealth due to its high price and elusiveness to the public.

Its prices range from $9,000 to $150,000. Costs escalate according to the type of materials. The bags are distributed to Hermès boutiques on unpredictable schedules and in limited quantities, creating scarcity and, intended or unintended, exclusivity.

History

In 1981, Hermès chief executive Jean-Louis Dumas was seated next to Jane Birkin on a flight from Paris to London. She had just placed her straw bag in the overhead compartment of her seat, but the contents fell to the ground, leaving her to scramble to replace the contents. Birkin explained to Dumas that it had been difficult to find a leather weekend bag she liked. In 1984, he created a black supple leather bag for her, based on an 1892 design. She used the bag for herself then later changed her mind. Nevertheless, the bag has since become an icon.

Design

Craftmanship

Leathers are obtained from different tanners in France, resulting in varying smells and textures. Because of the individual craftsmanship, other details of the bags may not all match. Nasi Goreng at Wild Ginger

Few days after our Wild Ginger food trip, I couldn't help but come back again and order my very own favorites. I asked Far-ouT to try it too.

I wasn't able to check the other highlights of the restaurant. Like this table and chairs.

The white and brown was a nice combination. Clean and pleasing to the eyes.

The bamboo placemats is also a good addition to the overall look of the table set-up.

The ambiance was neat.

Moving forward, instead of ordering the lemon and mint drink, Far-ouT and yours truly chose their fresh flavored Iced Tea (Dhs 12/each). ~~I wonder what was fresh about the iced tea~~.

Anyway, the usual flavor is a thirst quenching nevertheless.

I came back for 2 menu, their california maki was one of them. This time I get to enjoy more,

Far-ouT also ordered chicken dimsum (Dhs 16)

Mix of cabbage, spring onion, sesame oil, with minced chicken wrapped, steamed, and pan fried, served, with homemade dumpling sauce.

For the main course, Far-ouT ordered buckwheat noodles (Dhs 28)

Japanese wheat noodles mixed with spinach, capsicum, leeks, and topped with deep fried tofu.

And the other reason why I came back is because I want to eat my very own Nasi Goreng (Dhs 32)

Indonesian styled fried rice with fried chicken, chicken satay, prawn crackers, and topped with fried egg

Thank goodness that my cravings has been fulfilled that I don't have to come back again.

Sugoi - sushi and robatayaki guilt

I wonder what they mean by sushi and robatayaki guilt. So I went to my ever reliable google friend and found out that Robatayaki is the art of grilling Japanese style. Sushi, of course, is a Japanese delicacy consisting of cooked vinegared rice (shari) combined with other ingredients (neta). Neta and forms of sushi presentation vary, but the ingredient which all sushi have in common is shari. The most common neta is seafood. Sushi is the most famous Japanese dish outside of Japan, and one of the most popular dishes among the Japanese themselves.

I don't want to go further into details as I will only tell you about my experience with Sugoi. Well, nothing much actually, its just one of the lazy days that we opt to go to foodcourt and just randomly select from the wide range of restaurants and fast foods. ~~One of the lazy days means most the time.~~

Anyway, I wasn't up to fancy restaurant at the moment, just want to grab a bite and appease my grumbling stomach.

But if this is what you call grab a bite, I don't know what "I want to eat" would mean. Haha!

Something I was not, I am contented with a few ones without the big names but recently, just recently, with some influences, I am seeing bags in a different perpective...bad. very bad. Well, I have a few likes that I really wanted but have no plans of buying as yet. Until recently.

My mom and yours truly, went to Dubai Mall yesterday and saw the bags of LV, we almost decided not to get inside the store as the security was tight, all customer were only allowed to enter in 1 door and exit in another. Even locals were not spared of queuing as they limit the people coming inside the store. Seriously! I was almost embarassed carrying my Aldo bag. I realized that I do not want bags with the name brands as design anymore. Now I am torn between the damier and noir electric.

Energy Vampires

I have lots of plans that gave me inspirations to face each day with a positive outlook in life but like all plans, not all of it are bound to happen, at least not for the near future but just a little farther away. Sometimes its frustrating, as reality bites, especially when there are people who stops you from doing so and others who just love to burst your bubbles. I cannot ignore them, though they may think that they are only after what's best, still they are like the energy sucker of your life. Admit it or not, they affect me one way or another. They had me thinking...I know, which something that I shouldn't allow.

I had to postpone some of my dreams right now. I am demotivated. depressed. sad.

But no matter how this is affecting me, I know I should just continue to plan. to dream.

McDonald's birthday venue

To wrap up my post for Bella's 2nd year birthday bash, we have chosen McDonald's as venue. The location was accessible to our guests as it is along the road, just beside Spinney's Bur Dubai. It could accommodate 50 guests and has a play area for kids. Their area was big and good for birthday parties.

Unlike in Manila, where you will pre-order your meal, in Dubai, your guests has the choice of getting the food they wanted during the party. However, there were no spaghetti, chicken, and others meal that you can choose from, only their burgers. (now I am missing Manila). So I told myself, Bella will not have a Mcdonald's party again in Dubai.

Before the party started, the host kept on insisting that we pre-order already because getting orders is time consuming and we only have like 2 hours for the party. What I asked them was, get the orders of the guests now and we will pre-order the others which were not present yet.

The games were for adults because we only have less than 10 kids. But our guests enjoyed the party nevertheless. But still, there's no place for parties like home.

The last of my disappointments. I was not allowed to even decorate to spruce up the place. Far-ouT and I was preparing my theme for weeks and it just ended up in the trash can. I understand that it was a Mcdonald's party but can you at least allow me to just put one pinwheel? No.

Again, I told myself, Bella will not have a Mcdonald's party in Dubai.

The Cake from Sugarbox

Cake is another frustration in Dubai. I was a little stressed about where to order the cake and luckily chance upon Sugarbox from one of my sisies from N@W, so I sent immediately the photo of the cake that I wanted but their quote to me was outrageously expensive.

But I was not surprise at all, just see how I want Bella's cake to look.

Even the cupcake photo that I sent was way beyond my budget.

I was disappointed at first for not getting the cake and cupcake designs that I wanted but then again, at the last minute, I seriously made some thinking and although the design was really nice and definitely a beauty, the practical side of it is that not everybody will be able to taste it so I chose an alternative for our guests to enjoy and at the same time save on souvenirs

We decided to visit one of their stores in Mercato Mall, Jumeirah Beach road and see what they can offer.

Aside from cakes, they also have mini cakes, simple cupcakes ranging from Dhs 12.00 to 3D design tops around Dhs 17.00 - Dhs 19.00 depending on how you wanted it to look like.

We have tasted 2 flavors, red velvet and mocha which was really yummy.

We were already set our minds to order mini cupcakes for Bella's birthday then these truffles caught my eyes.

They were yummier. I swear. Also, they have these really cute boxes.

I finally decided on ordering 100 truffles with different flavors as favors to our guests.

We also bought a cupcake stand from IKEA to placed the truffle boxes

The actual cake for Bella to blow her candles was bought separately from sugarbox, it was just on standard size, just enough for cake cutting and candle blowing to make her wishes or rather our wishes for her. I told them that a simple design will do but they were nice enough to make a cute one.

and not just the design, but the cake itself was yummy too!

The truffles was really a treat and the cake was enough for us to enjoy for a few days. haha!

Sugarbox is highly recommended.

The Invitation

I really wanted something different for Bella's invitation as always. However, celebrating in Mc Donald's left me with no choice but use what they can offer. The usual invitation. Since I am trying to make a theme out of Mcdonald's birthday party, I tried to make the invites more lively for our guests.

Looking for the right materials in Dubai is really frustrating. Not all stuff are available in the market. These are one of the days that I miss Divisoria. We've been to every party shops and bookstore but to no avail. Good thing, we were able to find something from Magrudy's

Though it was not very ideal for pinwheels, it was way better and cheaper that any other choices that we have seen. With Far-ouT cooperation and creativeness, we were able to make the invites nicer.

The next big thing is up next.

Not long time ago, I was only preparing for our wedding and now we are already celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary. Nothing has change really, it made us even stronger and closer to each other. I asked Far-ouT when will he ask me again to marry him and he said, hmm, that may be on our silver anniversary. I answered back, that's too far! But deep in my heart, it really doesn't matter. As long as we get along well, we're happy being together, keeping the love and respect alive, I'll be fine. I know this is not a perfect world, there would definitely be ups and down in a relationship, I have not encounter a major one as yet, but I will be ready for it, we will be ready for it. Besides, 8 years of being together is not something that you can just throw and forget.

To celebrate our 3 years together as husband and wife, my Far-ouT took me to a fine dining experience! Not again! No rice venue is a pain in my stomach. Haha!

Just looking at the chandeliers, this is definitely fine dining.

Glasses, spoon and forks, overall table set-up is spelled fine dining. Arrgh!

Apologies for the dim light, its part of being in a fine dining restaurant. I actually chose a table with a much lighter area for my photos but still my ever reliable mobile phone couldn't capture the nice place.

I was surprised to see 2 dips for their complimentary bread, not the usual butter spread. Far-ouT was not sure what were the dips, so we asked our server and he was accommodating enough to explained to us. The Green colored one is Saffron infused in extra virgin olive oil and the dark one is balsamic vinegar. and both are good. Something new for my personal sense of taste.

We already ordered our main course and were left to order for the drinks. We scanned the menu and couldn't find Iced tea on their list. So I asked if it was available. The food server said they could come up with something. Hmm, strange that they do not have the usual iced tea. But then again, they have alcoholic beverages.

Since they don't have this on their menu, its quite bland. They improvised for an iced tea drinker and not sosyal enough to order wine me. Hahaha!

For our appetizer, I am beginning to think that I am ordering the same colored ones since our Royal Ascott Hotel date. But this is definitely yummier. I swear.

This is Asparagus and spinach soup (Dhs 39.00). It has wild mushroom and ricotta tortellini, parmesan cheese may be added.

Far-ouT entree is called Tuna 'crudo' with olive oil, poached cherry tomatoes, and fresh crab (Dhs 72.00). With the price, this will cover the main course as well. Haha!

Since this is an Italian Restaurant, he wanted to taste their Pizza (Dhs 72.00). Prosciutto, buffalo mozzarella, semi dried tomatoes and roquette.

This is Mezzo Pizza, original thin and crispy pizza from the wood oven.

And below is my main course. I shamelessly asked for rice but to no avail.

Even without the visible sight of rice, this is definitely worth trying. Tastefully delicious. Olive oil and herb roasted corn fed chicken, Jerusalem artichoke, and smoked potato tortellini, sauteed wild mushrooms (Dhs 95.00)

And for dessert, we had cappuccino chocolate soufflé with a side of vanilla sauce.

It was so airy it nearly floated off the plate, with edges that were slightly caramelised.

Ambiance was definitely a plus.

Again, the last minute preparation in me took over once again so now, I am not in the position to choose anything at all. I am left with few options. Mcdonald's Jumeirah Beach Road and Mcdonald's Spinney's in Bur Dubai. I want to hit myself for not inquiring earlier, Friday and Saturday are fully booked already so we were left with Sunday option, which mind you is a working day in Dubai. Arrrgh! I was actually, thinking of booking Mcdonald's Jumeirah branch because it is near our office, however, since the Mcdonald's in Spinney's Bur Dubai is nearer our place, we decided to hold Bella's party there.

Awww, my Bella will be 2 years old in a few weeks.

She is learning to talk now, thank God!

Anyway, when I inquired on both branches, one thing I noticed is that, the crew in the Jumeirah Beach road branch are more accommodating than the ones in the Spinney's Bur Dubai branch. I was already on the verge of backing out because they have a lot of dont's. One, I can only bring cake. Two, I cannot have a theme of my own except Mcdonald's which I understand but don't intend to follow. Sorry, but I have plans and lots of pinwheels! I don't think it will affect Mr Mcdonald's at all. Three, they only have Hamburglar as their mascot! Excuse me, but he is not so pretty at all! Four, I cannot bring extra balloons. They said, they will prepare everything for us. But I want to bring extra balloons to spruce up the place! I cannot even design my centertable. I was getting frustrating but then again, I have to look at the bright side of things.

This branch can accommodate maximum of 50 pax, unlike the other one which is limited to 40 pax.

They also have play area for the kids, party venue is located on the 2nd floor though but it really doesn't matter.

It much cheaper to hold party in Mcdonald's. I do not have to prepare the invitations, souvenirs, host, party hats. They have games, music, treats and entertainment. So I have to put aside my ideas just for this one, but not all. Mcdonald's in Dubai have limited foods as well, they do not have what we have in the Philippines like spaghetti, Rice and Chicken with Gravy and other foods that kids will surely enjoy and unfortunately, were also not allowed to bring. Its not what I wanted but this is what we have right now so make the most out of it again.

All we did was to pay Dhs 100.00 as reservation fee and just show up on the day of the party. This is the first time that I will have a Mcdonald's party and the first time that I am not the hands-on on party planning but I hope that Bella will enjoy her party. Its hers anyway.

Reunited and it feels so good and bad

Do you think this is the best time to change my blog format? I've been thinking a lot lately, though I am still overwhelmed with Bella's arrival last Monday, 16th May, I still couldn't ignore this nagging feeling inside of me. Don't get me wrong, I really wanted to be with Bella. This is what I longed for eversince we separated, but then again is this really what's best for her? All I ever wanted was for her to have a happy childhood which will be her foundation when she grows up. One wrong move from us, her parents, might cause something big for her. Am I being selfish when all I wanted was for us family to be together, but is Bella being with us in a foreign country solve it? Where she would be far away from her cousins, her playmates and kid neighbors. Will she be growing up in a normal environment? I work, Far-ouT works as well, My mom and Bella will be left for 8 hours and more in our flat. Its just so sad just thinking how she'll spend hours without playmates, 5 days a week. Will she be thanking us for sending her in Dubai to be with us or will she hates us in the future for doing so?

I heard a lot of negative feedbacks on the kids of Dubai. They have this Paris Hilton kind of attitude. I'm scared that I will not be able to instill values to my daughter with this kind of lifestyle. I want to raise her to be a good person. I don't want to be a failure.

I wish this guilt feeling and worry will go away. I hope I had done the right decision. I pray that this change of life has a positive effect on her.

On happy thoughts, I couldn't believe that my Bella is really here with us after almost 8 months of being an absent nanay. Being able to embrace her, to see her smile, to pacify her when she's hurt. To bathe her, feed her just like the old times was the best feeling in the world.

On Mame and Bella's day 1 in Dubai, I introduce them to IKEA. Especially to Mame who's fond of everything about house. She was awed with all the beatiful designs of bedroom, kitchen, dining area etc.

Bella on the otherhand is still adjusting to her time. Most of the 2 days was spent eating and sleeping. Her body clock is still Philippine time. Hope she'll recover soon from the time difference.

2nd birthday Preparations

I know! I know! I have lots of backlogs from my posts. I have recent food trippings these past few days but I want to reserve those for some other time and make way for what's more important event coming my way. I am awaiting the arrival of my dearest Bella. At last! After 7 months of absence I can't wait to see and hug my daughter again.

But then again, due to excitement, I forgot to prepare that she will also be celebrating her 2nd birthday on June 4! Omigosh! It totally slip my mind! Good thing, Far-ouT was the one who reminded me on where to celebrate it.

Honestly, its difficult to prepare parties in Dubai, aside from the fact that you have limited options, sad that we will not be able to celebrate the occasion with your family and friends but still, we have to be thankful with what we have at the moment and make the most out of it.

To start of, to make it easier for me, I always use 2 guidelines. First, as I have mentioned during my recent event preparation, every time I am start my preps, I always think of my theme, always my guide to incorporate all my ideas at the end of the day. Secondly, I scout for possible suppliers, this is where my ever reliable N@W comes in for the inspiration.

Bella's first birthday party was a hit! I love all the details of it. Honestly, I am not fond of the usual theme for girls, Disney princess, Dora, etc. I want something unique but cost effective. After a few options, I finally decided on my theme. I had to consider that Bella's birthday falls on summer in Dubai which is definitely hot already. Not very ideal for outdoor party. But I wanted something summery. So Whimsical summer party came up! and everything about pinwheel!

I love this table set-up, fun-loving mood for the summer table.

These thank you cards are simply fabulous.

Taza Restaurant

Busy season is coming and I am feeling it the effect as early as now. I may have to expect some overtime work from June until September, ~~what else is knew~~? I am dragging it as I am imagining how busy it would really be but I dont want to think about it for the meantime as I will take some time out from work to relax and enjoy my little girl before reality checks in again.

One of the days where we had to stay late again to be updated ,colleagues and yours truly decided to grab a bite from Taza Restaurant. I am seeing it everyday but not really paying much attention to it. It just so happen that it was the nearest food chain along the way. But good thing that we have chosen to eat here, though they have limited menus, their chicken is really tasty

They also have big servings of 4 chicken on this plate,

And they have this cute bread (sorry, don't know how they call it) that are freshly baked. This is where they baked it. It the bread that pops. Haha! Because from tiny piece of flour, once they placed it under heat, it pops

They also have the barbeque chicken, its also delicious but be sure to eat immediately because it tends to harden when its cold already

I want rice!!!

Even with weird taste, I still enjoyed the taste of it. Intriguing really

Dubai Visa Application Procedure

We are now in the process of preparing Bella and Mame's travelling to Dubai. First of, better ready all your requirements ahead of time so you will not be cramming with the requirements.

I would suggest to start getting the Affidavit of Support and Guarantee from Philippine Consulate in Dubai located in Al Ghusais. Better go early as there are so many Filipinos who are also queuing to get the document. Cost is Dhs 200.00 Once this has been applied, you are scheduled to return after 10 working days.

Once this is done, the next best thing to do is to apply for the residence visa. Assuming that the birth certificate of your child is already authenticated at the UAE Embassy in Manila, before proceeding, you still have to go to an office in Bur Dubai where they would require to stamp the document again. This is important as officers from Foreign affairs will check this. Prior to applying for the visa, what we did was to check the flights available since we are in a rush. I need the schedule to coincide with my vacation leave from the company so I may take care of Bella for the a few days. It was difficult to book a flight as most airlines are already full and the available ones are expensive. Nevertheless, we were able to reserve the flights but be sure to pay as it will only be valid for 3 days. When all is well, we went to Foreign Affairs to apply for residence visa for Bella and 3 months long term visit visa for Mame.

First procedure is to go to the nearest typing center inside the compound of the Foreign Affairs.

Bring with you the passport copy of the applicant and 1 x passport size photo (white background) and the passport copy of the Sponsor. They will then type all the necessary information for the application. Amount is Dhs 270 per application.

You may pay the amount for the visa. Then once it is settled, they will print and request you to check all the entered details.

Carefully check the information before proceeding.

Once this is done, you may go inside the office. Please note, when you come inside the main door (directly in front of the big gate),

there would be 2 sliding doors inside, the one on your left are for Residence Visa application, here we have applied Bella’s visa, aside from the application, sponsor's labor contract will be requested, salary should be Dhs 5,000 and above.

It only took us less than 10 minutes to apply and residence visa is on hand.

The right sliding door are the ones for Visit Visa application.

We are still in the process of preparing for the residence visa of mame so we opt to get her on a visit visa for the time being. Procedure will be just the same. The sponsor, which is Far-ouT in this case, will be asked for the copy of your labor contract - salary required as mentioned earlier would be Dhs 5,000, bring a copy of your emirates ID just in case the officer will request for it. Long term visit fee is Dhs 1000, knowledge fee Dhs 10, Health Insurance fee 50, Service fee Dhs 110.00. Deposit is another Dhs 1000. This is refundable once Mame leaves the country or we may use it once we have applied for her residency.

On the same day, we have paid the air ticket for Bella and Mame and they are coming very soon!

Trivia: Did you know that Bella was still considered as infant and we only paid Dhs 350 for her in Emirates Airlines. Be sure to schedule your baby before they reach the 2 years of age on their scheduled flight though, otherwise, they won't be allowed to check in.

Schengen Visa and Travel Information

I just need to keep this on my blog for future use. As I have mentioned previously on my blog, when my colleagues and your truly met up and dine at Wild Ginger, they both gave a lot of information that got me inspired to expand my horizon and pursue my dream of traveling a lot of countries in the future! Of course, this will not happen overtime but at least having to set your goal make you want to look forward to the future.

I already heard of Schengen visa but didn't really look deeper into it, even mistakenly pronounce the term everytime I say it, but now that I was able to read more about it, I understand what it really meant.

The Schengen Visa has made traveling between its 15 European member countries much easier and less bureaucratic. Traveling on a Schengen Visa means that the visa holder can travel to any (or all) member countries using one single visa, thus avoiding the hassle and expense of obtaining individual visas for each country. This is particularly beneficial for persons who wish to visit several European countries on the same trip. The Schengen visa is a “visitor visa”. It is issued to citizens of countries who are required to obtain a visa before entering Europe.

The purpose of the visit must be leisure, tourism, or business. Upon the issuance of the visa, the visa holder is allowed to enter all member countries and travel freely throughout the Schengen area. It is strongly recommended to plan your journey within the timeframe of the Schengen Visa as extensions can be very difficult to obtain, thus forcing you to leave to stay in compliance with the Schengen rules and regulations. A Schengen visa allows the holder to travel freely within the Schengen countries for a maximum stay of up to 90 days in a 6 month period.

However, only 15 countries have implemented the common border control and visa provisions.

Aside from this information, I also learned that you should not to go to Jeruzalem, if you still plan to return to United Arab Emirates, Dubai in particular, where I am currently residing and working. Sad that I learned about this because I want to treat my mom to a Jeruzalem travel, so we need to avoid this country for the meantime.

And I was informed that Brazil and Morocco doesn't require Visa to visit the place. Do you think Sao Paolo is a good place to visit in the future?

Wild Ginger: The Wild Side of Asia

Former colleagues and your truly had a chance to get together and reminisce our happy past work with Sari-Sari. Yes, Sari-Sari the boutique? All of the stores are gone now but once a upon a time, it was one of the famous clothes shop in Manila and some provinces, they even ventured in the US. It was indeed a memorable experience. Anyway, its good to meet up and shared each other's life after each one of us went our separate ways from the company.

We decided to see each other in City Centre Deira and try Wild Ginger, a pan Asian experience. The restaurant is located inside Iconic store.

I love there placemats and tables made of wood.

They also have this long dining table. I remembered seeing the same ones in Wagamama.

The servers were very accommodating, we asked their recommendation on the foods since it was our first time to dine here.

For our drinks, Siegh got to taste there Lemon Mojito (Dhs 16). It has a mild taste of tea.

Sir Jerome tasted Pinacolada (Dhs 16), its fresh pineapple juice with coconut milk. Its a thirst quenching drink

and your truly chose Lemon and Mint (Dhs 15). Its a mix of lemon juice and mint. Hahaha, so much mint in it but its good.

Can you call sushi rolls as starters? I requested these from Sir Jerome, as he will be the one paying for our dinner. Hehehe!

California maki (Dhs 23). Nori wrapped Japanese rice with avocado shrimp and crabstick topped with sesame seeds or tobiko.

and Viking Maki (Dhs 25). Nori wrapped Japanese rice with crabstick, sweet egg, and topped with fresh Salmon.

For our main course. Siegh and your truly ordered from the sizzling stir fry. All their sizzlers come with a choice of sauce and served with steamed rice (Oyster, Schezwan, Black beans, Garlic, and sweet and Sour)

This is Beef Oyster (Dhs 36). I love the tender beef and the oyster sauce. But it was not what I chose.

This is Sea Food Schezwan. (Dhs 38). Its kindda spicy so I may have to go for beef Oyster as I am not so fond of spicy food, nevertheless, its still good.

This is Sir Jerome's Nasi Goreng (Dhs 32). I super love the rice, so yummy! Chicken and barbeque are also tasty. You should try this, highly recommended but be sure to eat it while it is still hot.

Coco's Restaurant

So little time so much to do! I got inspired and really aspire to travel. Did you know the first I have to travel our of the country is to work in Dubai already? Did not even hear the place until the time that I was informed that I will be working in Dubai. I did not know a single soul from UAE. First passport, first ride in the airplane, first time to be far from my family, friends and Far-ouT. It was hard to survive, but I did not have a choice then even if I cry myself to sleep. I was here already, no turning back. Well, now I am ok. At least being alone made me stronger.

I've been thinking of travelling...like a lot lately. The plan was to travel one country every year. This year, Far-ouT, Mame, Bella and yours truly scheduled to visit London in September! Yey! Hep! I dont want to go into details but I want to keep my fingers crossed and hope that it will happen as planned.

Also, Bella will be reunited with Nanay and Tatay soon...again, I don't want to go into details. Please stop me!!!

Ok, just to ignore the tingling excitement in my bones, I will share with you our latets foodie trip.

Have you been to Coco's Restaurant? Im sure a lot of you already have as you can find the place anywhere. I have too, more than twice actually but hadn't had the chance to talk about them. Good thing that Far-ouT and Yours truly decided to dine in again at Coco's. In my opinion, you will never go wrong with their menus. I consider it as one of the safest place for me to eat on several occasions.

I was amused with the coconut tree planted in the middle of the place. I wonder if its real or not. It doesn't really matter, the ambiance has this nice summer touch, with minimal lighting that added to its overall laid back appeal. Its a good combination, right? I feel at home.

Most of the servers are Filipinos, as we are known for being hospitable, friendly, warmth, not to mention, being conscious with our personal hygiene.

The complimentary bread were served hot and fresh.

For our soup, we ordered Cream of Broccoli soup in a bread bowl. (Dhs 27).

The soup was rich, creamy and served piping hot, in a sourdough bread bowl.

We had Chicken and Peach salad (Dhs 49). These are shredded boneless honey roasted chicken tossed with crispy bacon, sliced peaches, crumbled blue cheese, crunchy croutons, diced tomatoes, honey glazed walnuts on a bed of crisp greens.

Our salad was served Italian dressing. You may also opt for honey-dressing on the side.

Far-ouT and yours truly both ordered Lemon Mint (Dhs 15)

Love the tasted of mint on lemon.

My hunger was appeased already with the starters, so instead of ordering more, we decided to share our main course. Grilled Shrimp Peri-Peri (Dhs 76). Marinated shrimps grilled perfectly and tossed with peri-peri sauce, served with rice and vegetables.

There you go, Coco's is safe place to dine and definitely, worth it.

Aldo Accessories: Oh my Starfish!

Everytime Far-ouT and yours truly went to the mall. I always check the latest accessories from Aldo. Although, I couldn't really decide what to buy, I just kept on checking from time to time. Usually, I went home still empty handed, but not this time as I saw the cutest ring and can't help but rave about it.

I just wished t'was silver but its not, unfortunately. So I asked the lady how to take care of it since it has a tendency to discolor, she admitted that too, she said to avoid getting it wet with water and perfume. I also hope the cute shining shimering stones will not leave its places otherwise, it will just be a piece of junk as every stone counts. It wasn't cheap at all for a price of Dhs 70, that's almost Php 700-800. Let's see if Aldo accessories are good when it comes to these thingies.

Pinoy Grill

I'll be quick with my post. Its not something that requires my full attention. Fa-ouT and yours truly enjoyed watching Catch me I'm in love. Gerard was just WOW! and Sarah played her part naturally. The story was a typical one, but the loveteam was good that makes the movie more appealing.

Anyway, while the movie was great the food that we had was not.

This is their Bulalo steak (Dhs 33). It was good tasting but the parts that were given to us was not ideal.

Molo soup (Dhs 9.00) was bland.

Paella (Dhs 29.00) was nothing but disappointment.

Typical Pinoy interior was ok though.

Sorry, but this place needs a major improvement.

Rest assured that I am still following my favorite blogs. You may not see yourself on my blog but I actually just move you to my dashboard to free some space on my page. I just felt that its too crowded already. I, as a blog reader myself doesn't want to be confuse with alot of clickable items on the page that I am reading. So I minimize what on it. Simplicity.

I am still in the process of thinking how to improve my blog and ~~my grammar.~~ I must admit, I am not that good in the English language, and sometimes there are correction that I overlooked but I try to improve them though Its just the way it is. As what the old saying goes, its the thought that counts.

I am still not up to making another food blog right now, but I'll make a new one at the soonest.

Cuts for Tots for Bella's first hair cut

We planned for the longest time on when to schedule Bella's first hair cut. It was postponed several times for the reason that we just don't want her hair cut as yet. Since Bella will be travelling to Dubai soon, we don't want her to be stuck with long locks so today, 17th April marks bella's first hair cut. Before I left for Dubai, I already told my mom where to have Bella's haircut. Its cuts for Tots located in Megamall, very near the chapel. They have these cute little cars serves as the chairs and play toys while kids are having their hair cut. Bella was enjoying all toys at first and was oblivious on what she'll go through in a while.

And then they were already starting the cutting of her hair and when she realized what was happening, And so the struggle combined with tears and scream are the scene inside the salon

I wasn't actually expecting Bella to cry her heart out for her first hair cut. She is a brave kid, just laughing off even an injection. I guess, she doesn't want anyone touching her hair.

Everybody was holding my bella as she struggle and try to get away with the scissors.

I was concerned that she might be traumatized by the experience, so I requested my mom not to proceed with it anymore and just schedule it for another day. Good thing the hair cutter was very patient with kids and careful with his scissors.

And once its done, you can't see even see any trace of all the commotion that just happened. Bella is wearing one of her cute hair accessories from Sassy Hairsies.

That's my girl. My Sweet Bella.

Gerard Patisserie

A walking distance from our office is Gerard Patisserie, where we had our few moments of bonding time. Three of us where officemates from our previous company in Dubai. One by one, we left the company and went our separate ways. But what do you know, history repeat itself as we are again reunited in another company.

We get to enjoy different drinks

Roanne had her Xtreme Mocha (Dhs 18.00)

Chat chose Hot chocolate (Dhs 17.00)

And yours truly got to have Iced Tea instead of coffee as I"m determined to sleep and avoid too much caffeine in the evening.

But my tummy was making noise already so I added carb to my drink, Chicken Mayonnaise.

Noticed the burnt portion? Ah! Never to order sandwich again.

Nevertheless, T'was still a night to remember the good ol' times.

Agemono: Eat-All-You-Can

Another Japanese treat yet again. Eversince I revived my liking for California Maki, I've been craving it for days. So Far-ouT and I just went for a walk and end up with Eat-All-You-Can at Agemono, just a few blocks away from our flat.

Trivia: When I was enjoying every bit of my food, Far-ouT said that one of the owners of Agemono is a Filipino Chef, he just couldn't remember his name but wow! right? Its good to hear that a lot of Filipinos are making big names all over the world. So I asked him: where is he now? Far-ouT: Working as a Chef. Yours truly: Ohhh.

Anyway, customer service is superb! All filipino servers are thumbs up when it comes to customer satisfaction.

Alright, here's what I had, I was catching my breath after the meal as it was another gastronomic binge.

Of course, the plain rice, can't do without it.

Hmm...I forget what kind of soup this is, I'm guessing corn and egg soup, it has a sweet taste, which I don't like that much. I actually prefer soup with a mild taste, I wonder what it is about sweet tasting soup as everytime I have corn soup its always has it sweet blend taste.

Chicken curry. Not also fond of curry, but I get to taste a little bit of it and it was not that bad after all. Just wasn't one of my favorites though.

Breaded Chicken. With the sauce, it's so-so.

Pad Thai noodles. Oh, Yeah! This is really good! I like how they cooked the noodles.

And my all time favorite shrimp dish, Tempura!

Of course, it can't go without its tempura sauce, which I also like.

There is also salad bar, I didn't like the choices though but it wasn't bad.

And the reason why we really end up at Agemono, the eat-all you can California Maki. Hahaha! I also get to taste the others but nothing can beat Maki.

Sorry, they weren't able to refill the plates when I took the pictures but they were fast to do it when its already running out.

You can also request to have your seafood cooked on the spot.

Far-ouT wasn't up for the eat-all-you-can that night so he chose to eat Bangsilog (Bangus, Sinangag at Itlog)

They usually have the eat-all-you can every Thursday. The place was small which is a downside of it.

I wonder what's on the other side the wall? Maybe their kitchen?

When you pass by Emarat Gas Station, you will see this bin-like box where you can donate your used items.

But please do not give soiled Clothes, Pillows, Duvets, Rugs, Carpets, Books and toys.

Isn't better to give something for people who needs your help?

Breakfast at IKEA

Once upon a rare morning, Far-ouT and yours truly went to have breakfast at IKEA...Ok, let me do it the normal way. When you go inside IKEA, you’d really wish to have a place of your own. They’ve got everything you would ever need. I mean, literally, everything. From plates, spoon, fork, knives, beds, etc. You name it, they have it. Its like, you can picture how you want all your rooms inside your house to look like. Aside from all of those, one of the best things that this store has to offer are foods for minimal amount. What I also love about them is, their drinks are unlimited. Coffee for me. 3 years back, I wish to have breakfast here, but we were commuting that time so traveling would not be an easy task at all. But far-out made that happened today.

Breakfast at IKEA! I was surprised when we went inside because there were so many people having theirs as well.

There were many foods to choose from.

But my all time favorite is there unlimited coffee

Far-ouT and yours truly both have the IKEA breakfast, that includes, a partition of eggs, 2 sausages, beans and hash brown.

All for only Dhs 4. How that for a breakfast? Unlimited coffee and bread are sold separately.

I enjoyed the breakfast so much that I had 3 cups of coffee that morning. Yum! Yum!

Steak House at Royal Ascott Hotel

I admit I am neglecting my blog again. Quite frustrated about it actually. I wanted to update it on a daily basis but work and other stuff prevents me from doing so. Besides, I've been thinking a lot of changing the whole format lately. All I blog is about food and dining out. I didn't like it that much. I wanted something different, something more exciting but all I can think of are latest restaurant that we went to. So that's basically it. Nothing more, nothing less. That means, my life is a bore. Sadness struck like lightning. I don't want to entertain what I am feeling right now but deep inside, I feel empty sometimes. Like, I have nothing but routine. I've been trying to find out, what is missing but nothing is coming up. Maybe its just hormones? Like every time of the time I have this mood swings?

But before anything else, I need to finish my latest foodie trip. Far-ouT and yours truly went to Wellington Steak House located inside Royal Ascott Hotel. Its a fine dining, mind you. Haha! Just kidding. Please note though that even if you say a place is a fine dining experience it doesn't necessary mean that you'll enjoy every minute of it. The hotel has a nice interior, very elegant

The restaurant was just one from the many others inside. First of, when you enter the restaurant, there is only one server in the area. No one to greet you, nobody to assist you on your tables. That is how a fine dining should be right? Or am I wrong? Anyway, secondly, the place was dark. Maybe it serves the purpose of a relaxing atmosphere, a place where you can unwind and have some quiet moments with yourself.

Then finally, another server came to assist. We were serve our complimentary bread which I was very disappointed with. The bread was cold and definitely not freshly baked. Unlike what we had from Tribe and Outback. So first impression lasts for me. I was now expecting the worse.

After that not-so-enjoyable starter, we were already serve with our chosen drinks. Red Wine (Dhs 35/glass)

This red wine is called Concha y Toro "Casillero del Diablo," Merlot Chile. From Concha y Toro comes this succulen Merlot. Dark and deep purple with subtle aromas of chocolate, dark plums, berries, and spices with a touch of vanilla and smoke, medium-bodied, with lovely tannins, and a long pretty finish.

As I previously mentioned, alcoholic beverages are not allowed in Dubai unless you have a license, but the good thing is, you may drink and get drunk is a hotel or restaurant who are licensed to serve them. Never forget to bring with you your receipts though as this already serve as your license just for the particular. Cool right?

Anyway, for our entree, Far-ouT ordered beef carpaccio, roquette and roasted parmesan (Dhs 30).

Generally these are thinly sliced or pounded thin of beef served as an appetizer. This may be the least on my list of foods that I'll never ever try again. For me its was bland and rubbery.

Lucky was I this time when it was time for me to order and chose Mushroom Cappucino (Dhs 25).

The soup was superb! Really finished everything. But the bread ~~again~~, almost ruined it. I have no idea why their breads were not of good quality. But anyway, I enjoyed the appetizer so far, that I stick my tongue on the plate (just kidding)

For our main course...drum rolling...rack of lamb ( Dhs 90) for Far-ouT and 10oz fillet mignon (Dhs 90) for yours truly

Far-ouT order was so-so, nothing to rave about. We liked our beef medium rare

No steak has yet to replace the one I had in tribe. It was still the best. Nevertheless, this is not that bad as well.

In addition to our main course, Far-ouT also ordered their mash potato which was actually delicious

The last and definitely the least. Our dessert

Classic Creme Brulee (Dhs 20). We waited for it for quite sometime just to be disappointed in the end. It was plain suger and flour. We didn't even finish half of it. Hope the servers will feel that we did not enjoyed it and that they should improve on it.

The laughters was the best part of the celebration all because my Far-ouT's birthday! Yey! Wish you all the best. I love you! A toast to more happiness and love. Another year to look forward to

I really admire how our technology evolves. Everything is fast changing and if you will not go with the flow, you'll definitely be left behind. Like what I am doing right now. I am actually blogging on my phone! How cool was it, right. Now I just have to click the send button and see if this would really work.
